A Nantwich teenager has made his national rugby debut by representing Welsh Exiles U16s.
Rhys Spencer-Price, a year 11 student at St Thomas More in Crewe, made his representative debut against Llandovery College.
And if left wing Rhys impresses in two remaining Exiles games, he could be selected to play for Wales U16 squad.
The teenager, from Wybunbury near Nantwich, played for Crewe & Nantwich RUFC from U7s to U15s.
Rhys’ dad Nick, vice chair of Crewe and Nantwich RUFC, said: “His debut took place in picturesque surroundings, not dissimilar to ‘Hogwarts’ on a wet day in very heavy conditions!
“However, it was a top class game played in the true spirit of rugby union ending in a 5-5 draw.”
It was the first in a 3-game winter programme that will see Exiles take on RGC in North Wales and Dragons Regional Academy in Newport, Gwent.
