An 18-year-old was set upon and badly beaten by a gang as he walked through Joey the Swan park in Wistaston, police say.
Detectives from Crewe Local Policing Unit are appealing for information after the serious assault.
The victim was walking through the park with a friend when the gang of eight or nine men launched their attack.
He suffered serious facial injuries in the assault, which happened at around 10pm on Saturday June 17.
Investigating Officer Det Sgt Steven Smith said: “This was a serious assault and we are keen to trace those responsible so they can be brought to justice.
“The victim has suffered serious injuries and has been left extremely shaken.
“We are currently following a number of lines of inquiry and as part of the investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and believes that they may have witnessed anything suspicious.”
