Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life will be held at Reaseheath College in Nantwich this September.
Now organisers are urging more local women to sign up to take part with 12 weeks to go until the big day.
It’s the first time the campus has hosted the fundraiser, and more than 500 have already entered.
Organisers want mums, daughters, sisters and friends to show their support and take part in the 5k Pretty Muddy event – a mud-splattered obstacle course – at Reaseheath on September 30.
Polly O’Gorman, event manager for Race for Life Pretty Muddy at Reaseheath College, said: “We hope as many women as possible will join the fight at Pretty Muddy in Reaseheath for our first year at the venue.
“We’re calling on local ladies to pull on their trainers and join like-minded women committed to the cause.
“We’ve no doubt they’ve got the muddy motivation to take on the challenge and help beat cancer sooner.
“We are absolutely thrilled that 537 women have entered Reaseheath’s Pretty Muddy.
“One in two people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives.
“Research is very expensive and the only way we can afford to fund it is with the help of our supporters.
“Money raised through Race for Life – whether it’s £10 or £100 – will help Cancer Research UK scientists find new ways to treat cancer and save more lives.”
Race for Life is a women-only series of 5k, 10k, Pretty Muddy, Marathon and Hiking events which raises millions of pounds every year to find new ways to tackle cancer.
The charity was able to spend around £23 million last year in the north-west on some of the UK’s leading scientific and clinical research – helping more men, women and children survive.
Polly added: “Race for Life events are non-competitive and participants can choose to walk, jog or run around the course.
“Whether they’re planning a 5k amble with friends, a 10k sprint or a mud-splattered race around Pretty Muddy, every step participants take will help to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
“We’re sending out a rallying cry to Cheshire women of all ages, abilities, shapes and sizes to sign up right now and stand united in the fight against cancer.”
Entry closes at midnight on Thursday September 28 and women across the county can sign up right now at www.raceforlife.org or call 0300 123 0770.
