Children are being invited to design decals for a car donated by a local dealer to help promote the Weston Christmas Light Display.
The winning design will be used on the car, and the winners will enjoy a VIP trip to Crewe Lyceum to watch Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and a trip to the Weston Christmas Lights switch on.
Weston Lights organiser Graham Witter, 23, who was honoured in last year’s Pride of Crewe Awards, is again fund-raising for Donna Louise Children’s Hospice.
He’s hoping to beat last year’s total of £22,680 with the support of local family car dealer, Swansway Motor Group.
Graham began his fund-raising in 2013 when he began decorating the family home for his late sister, Jessica, who had cardio-facio cutaneous syndrome and severe epilepsy.
“Despite her many health problems, she had a truly magical fascination for colour, light and sound,” said Graham.
“Each year we’d put up more and more lights until in 2013 a friend suggested we open the display to the public.
“The first year we raised £1,000, in 2014 it was £5,720 and by 2015 it was over £10,000.
“Very sadly, after a difficult illness in December 2015, Jessica passed away that New Year’s Eve.”
This prompted Graham to dedicate the festive event to her memory.
In 2016 he put Jessica’s name up in lights as part of the display and raised a staggering £22,680 for the Donna Louise hospice.
