Plans are underway for the return of charity money-spinner Superheroes Picnic in the grounds of Dorfold Hall in Nantwich.
The event, which returns on June 17, raised £12,000 for local causes last year including the Donna Louise Children’s Hospice and Ray of Hope, which supports the maternity and neonatal wards at Leighton Hospital.
Another packed programme of family activity is promised by organisers this year and sponsors drawn from the South Cheshire business community.
Spokeswoman Victoria Graham, of Training Bytesize in Nantwich, said: “Last year we were overwhelmed with the support of local families who came along and really got into the spirit of things dressed in their superhero costumes.
“We welcomed more than 1,300 people and raised a fantastic £12,000.
“We’re busy planning and hope to make this year even bigger and better.”
Businesses throwing their weight behind the event include The Cheshire Cat in Nantwich and The County Group, NLH and Brupac in Crewe.
Victoria, managing director of the project management training company, added: “There is a small group of us based in Nantwich, who have a passion for raising money for charity.
“We all have full time jobs and children but we are never too busy to turn our back on people that really need help raising money.
“A few years back we founded the Teddy Bears Picnic at Cholmondeley Castle and handed the reigns to The Wingate Centre as they were doing such a good job of running it without us.
“We then needed a new challenge and put our heads together to come up with the idea of Superheroes Picnic, a family event marking Father’s Day and supporting local charities.
“June 17 will be another chance to grab your cape and mask and come along and join the fun.
“The back drop will be the stunning Dorfold Hall Gardens. We have a marquee and lots of outdoor space.
“Bring your own picnics, dress up as your favourite superhero and relax in the magical gardens with plenty of hidden surprises.
“Treat your Dad to a day out on Father’s Day – we promise there will be plenty to keep everyone entertained.”
Attractions will include inflatables, face painting, raffle, donkey rides, beat the goalie and tombola plus supercar displays and more.
There will be food and drink stations and a bar for adults serving beer, Pimms and Prosecco.
Claire Smith, head of marketing for The County Group, said: “We are thrilled to be sponsoring this fantastic family event again this year.
“I have been volunteering at these local charity events for over 10 years and it’s fantastic to see how raising much-needed funds helps local families.”
The event runs from 11am to 3pm and all proceeds will go to The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice which cares for young people with life-limiting conditions and supports their families.
Tickets are £7 for adults and £4 for children over three.
Currently there is a special promotion offering a free ticket for Dad with every child’s ticket purchased.
