Friends of a Nantwich mum battling cancer are to stage a fund-raising gin event to help pay for pioneering treatment.
Mum-of-two Heidi Spencer’s plight was featured earlier this year on Nantwich News after she was found riddled with more than 25 tumours in her lungs, brain and bones.
The 45-year-old, from Burland, was told she had just weeks to live by doctors who diagnosed her with Stage 4 lung cancer.
But since then Heidi, who has two sons William, seven, and Lewis, three, has fought for 16 months to find new treatments with help from friends and family.
As part of Heidi’s fundraising appeal to raise £200,000, The Crown Hotel and Rodney Demsen in Nantwich have teamed up to organise a gin tasting night on September 29 in the Crown.
Tickets for just £20 are now on sale, and organisers are appealing for local businesses who may be able to donate raffle prizes to get in touch.
Heidi’s consultant has identified possible new targeted therapy drugs and immunotherapy treatments in her battle to beat cancer.
But these are not available on the NHS and could cost a mind-boggling £10,000 a month.
Heidi said: “To move forward I now need to raise funds for these new treatments.
“To me, failure is not an option. I must fight to win, to spend as much time as I can with my boys in the coming years.”
