Fire crews battled a blaze after a car burst into flames in a garage in Willaston and spread to nearby home.

The incident happened on Oak Bank Close, Willaston, and appliances from Nantwich, Crewe, Winsford, Sandbach and Chester attended.

The fire started in a detached garage at around 2.40pm yesterday (April 8) and was well alight when crews arrived.

A water supply was set up and four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus began using two hose reel jets to fight the fire. A covering jet was also set up.

The fire spread to the roof space of a house next to the garage.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus went into the property to fight the fire internally with a hose reel jet.

Plans were formulated to also fight the fire in the roof space from above.

No one was injured as a result of the fire.

Crews spent most of the night damping down the building after extinguishing the blaze, and were still at the scene at 10am today (April 9).
