Nantwich Town’s season looks to be over after all Northern Premier Division clubs were today told the current 2019-20 season will probably not be completed.
With the Dabbers in a strong position to challenge for promotion, the news will come as a blow to the Weaver Stadium oufit.
Club chairman Jon Gold said today: “This is immensely disappointing news for everyone at Nantwich Town Football Club.
“Especially after all the commitment and loyalty from our supporters and volunteers and the exciting efforts and performances on the pitch from our management and players.
“The last few weeks had set up what was looking like an exciting end of season run-in.
“We were looking forward to, and relying on five remaining home fixtures, together with a Cheshire Senior Cup semi-final.
“This decision by the league is yet to be ratified by the FA and also appears to be dependent on what happens with The National League.
“If confirmed, it leaves many questions to be answered and clearly has numerous implications on many levels for all clubs in the non-league pyramid, many of which are already under severe pressure and hardship from the effects of the current COVID-19 crisis.
“As soon as there is more clarification and details, we will provide further updates and, as always, thank you for your continued understanding and support.”
