Leighton Hospital run by Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been honoured at the prestigious Nursing Times Awards during a virtual ceremony.
The hospital was short-listed in the infection prevention and control category in the awards.
They recognise individuals, trusts and health organisations from across the country for innovations and achievement.
The Trust was recognised for its ‘Be Safe Be EquiPPEd’ campaign which aimed to make the Trust as safe as possible for staff and patients during the Coronavirus pandemic through supporting appropriate and correct use of PPE.
Sally Mann, Deputy Director of Nursing, said: “I am delighted the hard work of our teams has been recognised during this year’s Nursing Times awards.
“Our priority has always been to protect the health of our patients and our staff.
“To achieve this during the Coronavirus pandemic, PPE has been of critical importance and the need for education, support and training of our staff has been essential.
“Through the Be Safe, Be EquiPPEd campaign the Trust made the guidance as clear and as accessible as possible by engaging with and supporting staff in a number of different ways on an issue that we know could have been a potential source of anxiety and uncertainty for many staff.
“We’re incredibly proud of the fantastic and important work our staff have carried out during such challenging times.”
