Eleven licensed premises in Nantwich have now signed up to Cheshire Police’s Arc Angel scheme.
The initiative aims to tackle alcohol-related crime in the town, and police are keen for Nantwich to be promoted as a “protected town”.
The scheme was officially launched by Nantwich Neighbourhood Police teams in the town square on Friday (November 30).
Alcohol-serving venues which have signed up include the Cheshire Cat and Nakatcha on Welsh Row, The Leopard on London Road, The Wickstead, Harrisons, Malbank Hotel, The Shakespeare, The Union, The Crown Hotel, Nantwich Civic Hall, and the Railway Hotel.
It will see these venues working closely with the police to prevent alcohol-related crime and disorder.
The ArcAngel Protected Towns Initiative is being rolled out across Cheshire, and requires premises to meet criteria designed to promote responsible drinking and public safety.
Nantwich Civic Hall and the Railway Hotel were the first licensees in Nantwich to sign up to and be granted ArcAngel status following a period of assessment.
All venues who sign up are given marketing packs enabling them to promote ArcAngel within their establishments.
Sgt Richard Tomlinson, of Nantwich NPU, has been responsible for implementing the initiative in the town.
He said: “We′re very pleased to have these premises on board, and have been impressed with their attitude and commitment.
“We are keen to promote Nantwich as a safe place to enjoy a night out.”
Sgt Tomlinson has been working in partnership with Cheshire East Licensing and Trading Standards to drive the initiative forward.
