Jonathan Moran signs for Nantwich Town

Crewe Alex’s Jonathan Moran is the latest signing for Nantwich Town as boss Phil Parkinson begins to shape his 2015-16 squad.

Moran, who played for Parkinson during a Youth Loan from Crewe earlier in the season, has tweeted today that he was “happy” to have signed for Nantwich.

Parkinson is said to be pleased with progress on putting together his squad for next season.

He has made a number of offers to members of the existing team and potential new recruits.

Players’ player of the year Andy White has committed his long term future to the club, and centre-half Moran is the latest to put pen to paper.

“We have met with most of the squad and have made what we believe are fair offers,” said Parkinson.

“Many of those players including some new ones have pleasingly indicated they want to commit their immediate futures to the club.

“I only want players who I can look in the eye and know they sincerely want to play for Nantwich Town first and foremost and who can help us to bring some more success to this magnificent Football Club.

“There is still much work to do and I appreciate some players want to weigh up their options.

“I have made it clear I want to get my main business done early, so we can start preparing for next season as quickly as possible.

“To this end I sincerely hope the existing players accept the offers made to them so we can do this.”

One player they are to lose is centre-back Mat Bailey, who has accepted an offer to join AFC Telford who have just been relegated from the Football Conference.

“Unfortunately Matt has received and accepted an offer to join Telford FC,” added Parkinson.

“It’s obviously disappointing as Matt was a big part of our future plans and has a long history with the club.

“However, he has the opportunity to play at a higher level and has made a decision he feels is best for him at this stage in his career.

“I am sure our supporters will join me in thanking him for the contribution he has made and wish him all the best with his new club.

“I am confident we will be strong in this area and I look forward to making further announcements over the weekend and next week.”

Excellent news about Jon Moran. I had the very great pleasure of teaching him when he was 9 and even then he was a great player for the school football team as well as a great, hard working pupil! Very proud, congratulations and well done!
