A pair of Nantwich foodies are putting supper and socialising on the menu with the launch of a new dining club.
The Gourmet Supper Club will offer a chance to make new friends and enjoy fine food at pop-up events across Crewe and Nantwich.
Olea Italian Cafe & Kitchen on Church Lane in Nantwich will be the venue for the first monthly event on October 21 when proceeds will go to charity.
The evening will bring to the table traditional Italian food and showcase delectable wines suggested by an experience sommelier.
Club founders Jonathan Welford and Rob Hardy of Kingsley Village, Nantwich, hope to boost footfall in small and quirky local venues while taking local people on a gastronomic journey.
Jonathan, an estate agent, said: “Rob and I chose to live in Nantwich because of its great vibe and wide array of independent shops and eateries.
“We’re self-confessed foodies and for us there could be no better town.
“The food festival brings many people into town late summer and the Gourmet Supper Club will help satisfy the palates of fellow foodies at other times of the year.
“We hope it will also support the local economy by encouraging people to visit small and interesting local venues.
“The Gourmet Supper Club will be a gastronomic adventure and great way for guests to meet and share a common interest in fine food.”
The couple, who have previously lived in Berlin, are members of the Rotary Club of Bentley Cheshire and proceeds will be split between its charities and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Jonathan has already ‘Braved the Shave’ for Macmillan and raised more than £1,000.
Rob, a psychotherapist based in Nantwich, added: “The aim is to create the atmosphere of attending a good friend’s dinner party and offer an intimate
dining experience. We want everyone to feel welcome, couples and singles.
“The main consistent theme for every event is good food, good wine and most of all a good time.
“Part of the fun will be guessing where the Gourmet Supper Club will ‘pop up’ next. We already have a couple of venues in mind.”

Hi I read your article with interest as I visit Berlin quite often… just wondered whether non-meat eaters are invited? Thanks Jan Griffiths
