A popular Luncheon Club for the over 60s in Nantwich is to move to a new home, councillors have been told.
The Gables Luncheon Club has been meeting twice a week at The Gables on Beam Street in Nantwich for many years.
It has given elderly people in the town a chance to meet and socialise, helping to tackle isolations and loneliness.
The Luncheon Club also organises outings for members in the year, but the Covid-19 pandemic stopped the Luncheon Club in March 2020.
Now the club is moving as the current building The Gables, owned by Cheshire East Council, is no longer deemed safe enough.
Nantwich Town Council Cllr Arthur Moran said the club would renew its meetings in Nantwich Civic Hall, officially leaving The Gables on March 31.
“We have an agreement with the Civic Hall to transfer the club to the civic and starting an 18-month agreement from September 2021,” he added.
“The Gables is no longer fit for purpose and we can probably extend the numbers able to attend and provide more meals for the elderly in our town.
“It will be paying the going rate as a luncheon club.”

That is good. Civic hall has good facilities. Just concerned about costs of thhat
