Villagers fighting plans to build a 127-home estate in Audlem say the scheme is too big, in the wrong place and will make the existing traffic chaos even worse.

Muller Property Group has applied for outline permission for the homes, which includes 38 affordable, on 9.3 hectares of undeveloped farm and grazing land on the south-western edge of the village.

Cheshire East Council forecasts £3.1 million overspend for 2025-26

Cash-strapped Cheshire East Council is forecasting a £3.1 million overspend this year – in addition to the planned use of £25.3 million exceptional financial support.

The figures are revealed in the first financial review of 2025/26 (FR1) and are based on the council’s income, expenditure and known commitments as at the end of June 2025.
