Wells Green Methodist Church has celebrated its 50th anniversary in their church building.

The church, on Brookland Avenue in Wistaston, opened in 1967.

Police probe into Cheshire East Council air data and school grant allegations

Police are investigating allegations into Cheshire East Council’s air quality data and a public funds grant made to Berkeley Academy in Wistaston, the authority confirmed today.

Recent reports revealed air quality data between 2012 and 2014 was ‘deliberately and systematically manipulated’ to suggest it was better than it actually was at around 40 of its testing sites, including in Nantwich and Crewe.

Detectives are appealing for information after offenders targeted the convenience store on Kings Drive.

Defiant pensioner Laurence Perry’s mooning gnomes are still enjoying the limelight in Wistaston – despite threats from highways chiefs to have them removed.

Laurence has moved one of the gnomes a few feet from the roadside at Westfield Drive/Park Drive junction into the flower border.

Retiring Wistaston Rose Queen Emma Horne has presented a cheque to Diabetes UK for more than £5,000.

Emma, 15, who was crowned Rose Queen in June 2016, raised an amazing £5,121 through various activities over the past 12 months.
