Illegal firearms handed to police in month-long amnesty

Six blank-firing guns which can be converted into deadly weapons have been handed to Cheshire Police.

Four of those firearms were taken the Crewe and Nantwich Local Policing Unit.

26 firearms surrendered in Crewe and Nantwich during amnesty

More than 100 firearms, including 26 in the Crewe LPU, were handed in to Cheshire Police as part of a two-week surrender.

Residents across the county took part in the national initiative, which gave them a chance to safely dispose of firearms or ammunition, whether held lawfully or unlawfully, without the risk of prosecution.

Almost 50 illegal weapons handed in during Cheshire Police amnesty

Almost 50 illegal weapons including rifles and pistols were handed in during a Cheshire Police two-week weapons amnesty.

In total, 46 weapons were handed over – with more than a quarter of them in Congleton, and two in Crewe and seven in Chester. No weapons were submitted in Nantwich.
