Tests are being carried out on The Barony playing fields in Nantwich amid fears of potential land contamination. The risk and screening assessment comes after initial tests showed part of the Barony needed further investigation, including more extensive soil sampling.
A shed fire which spread to a neighbour’s garage and campervan on a Nantwich street, was caused by an electrical fault, according to police. Residents emerged from their homes on Birchwood Drive, near the Barony, to watch as fire crews battled the blaze.

A major road in and out of Nantwich was closed off temporarily by police after an incident involving a lorry. The truck was left blocking Middlewich Road, near Sainsbury’s superstore, with police cars guarding it.
