“When bombs rained down on Crewe” – book appeal to Nantwich News readers

Nantwich News readers are being urged to contribute to a new book which chronicles the air raids in South Cheshire during World War Two.

The book – “When The Bombs Rained Down on Crewe” – covers the period between July 1940 and April 1941, when the town experienced air raids which saw houses and buildings destroyed and residents killed.

Peter Wilson Auctioneers on Market Street are staging a Militaria auction on March 28 – which will include these terrifying looking devices.

Memorial for six men killed by German bomb in Nantwich

A memorial is to be erected in honour of six men killed while disarming German bombs in a field near Nantwich. The men, from the Royal Engineers, had safely disarmed three of the bombs found close to Alvaston Hall, Nantwich.
