Rotting food has been left in garden waste bins in parts of Cheshire East where fortnightly collections have been missed because of a lack of staff.
Cllr Rachel Bailey (Audlem, Con) has called on the council’s audit and governance committee to look at how waste food is collected and how the scheme operates to see if anything can be done.

Missed bin collections in Cheshire East almost trebled last year.
A Freedom of Information request to the council showed 21,340 collections were missed in 2019-20, compared to 7,182 the year before.
Residents in Crewe and Nantwich will not have green waste bin collections for more than two months.
The cost-cutting move by Cheshire East Council will impact households across the borough between December 3 and February 11.
Nantwich residents are being urged to take their wheelie bins into gardens to prevent high winds blowing them over and littering the streets. Cheshire East Council has had reports of strong winds causing problems with bins which were left out this morning for collection.
