The Crewe to Manchester leg of HS2 has moved one step closer as the legal process in Parliament to allow it to go ahead gets underway.
Crewe and Nantwich MP Dr Kieran Mullan and HS2 project champion Pete Waterman toured Crewe station to mark the occasion with new Rail Minister Wendy Morton MP.
The historic Crewe Works site is to receive major investment after site owners Alstom won an HS2 contract to build a new generation of 54 high speed trains in North and Midlands.
Formally owned by Bombardier, the site has not been used for the manufacture of new trains since the early 1990.

I was disappointed by the irrelevant bluster that Dr Mullan threw at us as justification for his voting to allow water companies to dump raw sewage onto our rivers and on to our beaches.
Under current laws many water companies have been fined for just this practice.

Conservative councillors have accused Cheshire East of “dumbing down” ambitions for Crewe after plans for a link road bridge near the railway station were shelved.
Members of the council’s corporate policy committee voted to revoke a previous Cabinet decision in 2019 on the Crewe Southern Link Road Bridge preferred route and to revoke the decision of Cabinet in March 2020 to consult on the draft Crewe Hub Area Action Plan.
More than 20 community groups and charities in South Cheshire are preparing to apply for grants as part of the HS2 programme.
