LOCAL ELECTIONS: Reaction after big changes for Cheshire East Council

Nantwich has a completely different make-up on Cheshire East Council following a shock result with three of its four borough councillors being Labour.

Overall, the council remains in no overall control with 33 Conservative councillors, 31 Labour, 16 Independents and 2 Lib Democrats. Labour made six gains overall, and the Tories three.

Labour has put up 60 candidates for the 82 seats up for election on Cheshire East Council.

The party has run the council jointly with the Independent Group for the past four years, after the Conservatives lost overall control in the 2019 local elections.
