Former Cheshire East Council officer loses unfair dismissal case

A former HR officer who accused Cheshire East Council of unfairly dismissing her after trying to raise concerns through the whistleblowing process, has lost her employment tribunal.
Sue Wallace, of Connah’s Quay, claimed the local authority dismissed her in December 2016 because she attempted to highlight a failure to pay the minimum wage to care staff and Tatton Park employees who had worked ‘sleep-in shifts’.
Man charged after police officer injured in Middlewich garage incident
A man has been charged in connection with an incident which left a police officer injured after being dragged along a road by a vehicle.
The incident involved an off duty police officer at the Shell garage on Holmes Chapel Road, in Middlewich, on January 12.

Hero army officer from Nantwich awarded the Military Cross
An Army Officer from Nantwich who rescued a casualty while fighting off insurgent attacks in Afghanistan, has been awarded the Military Cross. Lieut William Boreham, 33, was on patrol when a soldier nearby stood on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and was severely injured.
