Bentley Motors today announced they are set to make hundreds of redundancies from its South Cheshire luxury car plant as part of “long-term competitiveness and operational efficiency”.
They said a consultation programme affecting management, agency and non-manufacturing employees will begin.

Middlewich residents have to drive past their local waste centre to take rubbish to the Pyms Lane tip in Crewe – only for it to be then transported back to Middlewich!
Cllr Garnet Marshall spoke of the irony of Cheshire East’s decision to close the Croxton Lane site at Middlewich and not allow residents access to the Ansa waste transfer site on Cledford Lane, where the entire borough’s rubbish is dumped.
Changes to household waste recycling centres in Cheshire East have come into effect this week.
It means Nantwich and Crewe users of the busy Pyms Lane centre will now have to book an online slot at weekends and Bank Holidays.
New mobile household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) are being considered by Cheshire East Council amid plans to revamp its service.
The staffed mobile centres would visit “public spaces” once a month around the borough.

Utility firms failing to turn up for essential work added to delays to the A530 Middlewich Road closure and can’t be forced to pay compensation, a councillor has said.
Middlewich Road, which has been closed between Pyms Lane and Smithy Lane since May, was due to re-open this month.
People using the Pyms Lane tip may face “proof of address” checks in future under new plans by Cheshire East Council.
There will also be ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) in place after the council announced a new contract for the running of its household waste recycling centres.

Two Cheshire East councillors have rubbished a suggestion the council should consider cutting the number of days its tips are open to the public.
At present, household waste and recycling centres such as Pyms Lane in Crewe are open seven days a week and only close on Christmas Day.
