Homes and pub scheme for Acton refused by Cheshire East councillors

A scheme to build 53 new homes and a pub in the open countryside at Acton near Nantwich has been refused by councillors.

Nine members of the southern planning committee voted to turn down the application on land south of Monks Lane and west of Chester Road, and one abstained.

Cheshire East’s strategic planning board was unanimous in giving the thumbs up for the reserved matters application from David Wilson Homes and Muller for the phase one development on land at Peter Destapleigh Way in Stapeley.

Cheshire East says the Homes for Ukraine Scheme has been successful but some refugees have been re-matched with new sponsors because of failed safeguarding checks or relationship breakdowns.

Dan Coyne, operational lead at Cheshire East for the Homes for Ukraine Scheme, said the council had so far inspected 139 of the 204 homes offered in the borough.
