The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for parts of South Cheshire as heavy snow is set to hit the region. Forecasters predict up to 15cm could fall in Cheshire tomorrow (January 18), with ice and strong winds also set to cause havoc.
Drivers in South Cheshire are being warned by police over treacherous conditions on the roads today. Snow is causing problems in Crewe, Nantwich, Winsford, Middlewich and other areas.
Council chiefs in Cheshire East say they are prepared as snow and ice looks set to hit the Nantwich area tonight and tomorrow (December 16). They say stockpiles of salt, a new information centre and modern gritting vehicles based at three sites, including Wardle near Nantwich, will help the borough cope with wintry conditions.
