Vulnerable South Cheshire residents were unable to call for help during a three-day power cut because the area’s landlines have been switched to a digital service which requires electricity, a councillor said.
Cllr Janet Clowes said parts of her Wybunbury ward lost power for up to 72 hours during last week’s Storm Darragh.
Only two games in the Crewe Regional Sunday league survived the Storm Darragh weather conditions.
The postponed games for the second round of the Presidents Cup will be rearranged for early January.
The clean up is underway after Storm Darragh left a trail of damage and flooding across South Cheshire this weekend.
A Flood Warning remains in place along the River Weaver in Nantwich, with levels up to 1.92m higher than normal, says the Environment Agency.
