Cheshire East Council chiefs have been using taxpayers money to maintain more than 500 green space plots of land which may be privately owned.
Director of environment and neighbourhood services Paul Bayley said the authority has been maintaining 547 parcels of land not registered as being owned by the council.
A new HR and Payroll IT system for Cheshire East Council called “Best4Business” has ended up being “Worse4Taxpayer” after costing more than double the original £11.8 million, a report shows.
The project took several years to implement and was dogged with disputes and delays, a “Lessons Learned” review highlights.

Some Cheshire East residents won’t have to pay any council tax from next April following changes being made to the support scheme.
At present people in receipt of benefits such as jobseeker’s allowance or income support get 75% of their council tax paid under the council tax support scheme.

Plans to build a joint police and fire station in Crewe have been axed after it was discovered the project would have cost taxpayers £18 million.
Members of the Cheshire Fire Authority unanimously voted at a meeting today (September 18) to move forward with plans to build a station solely for the fire service instead.
Nantwich residents will have council tax bills frozen for at least the next two years, Cheshire East Council has agreed.
The local authority is the first in the country to announce a two-year freeze.
