three friends Tim Edwards, Chris Lines and Craig Parker

Three South Cheshire friends are to tackle Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for The Nasio Trust which helps African orphans.

Chris Lines, Craig Parker and Tim Edwards are now trying to raise £8,000 between them to afford to go on the fund-raising expedition.

The Nasio Trust helps children orphaned or abandoned as a result of HIV/AIDS, by providing education, shelter, counselling, medical clinics and encouraging environmental and social awareness to the most vulnerable children.

And once the lads have completed the climb, they plan to visit orphanages in Kenya to see what the money raised will help towards.

Chris, 26, a regional education manager for Jigsaw24, said: “We have got to raise £8,250 in total between the three of us.

“But we are paying ourselves for our flights and hotels and also try and raise the rest of the money via other fundraising methods (sportsman dinners, raffles etc).

“Therefore we have set the target at a more realistic £3,000.”

Tim, 26, of Bowyer Avenue, Nantwich, is a marketing executive for Sky, and Craig, 26, of Crewe, is a technical account manager for Microsoft.

“We chose the charity as we really wanted to see the money we are raising being put to use in the country we are doing the trek,” Chris added.

“So far we have raised money from a personal donations from friends, a Christmas jumper night in The Lamb in Willaston, eBay business selling clothes.

“Even my Gran asked for donations to my charity instead of presents for her Silver Wedding Anniversary, which raised £500!”
