Nantwich Police re-issued their warning to New Year’s Eve revellers thinking of drinking and driving this weekend.
The town’s policing unit has joined specialist teams over the festive period to run a drink drive campaign in and around Nantwich.
And Insp Dave Smithers, head of Nantwich division, said random checks will continue to be carried out over the next few days as we celebrate New Year.
He told Nantwichnews: “There still seems to be a rogue element who think they can risk it driving while under the influence of drink or drugs, which is quite worrying.
“Specialist teams from outside have been brought in specifically to run this campaign, which my officers will support and help with.
“There are designated locations which we will target, which for obvious reasons we won’t publicise.
“But the message is simple – don’t do it, don’t risk it, because you may not get away with it.”
Cheshire Police’s drink drive operation, codenamed Operation Cheddar, is working alongside a European-wide initiative led by ACPO and TISPOL and has been running since December 1 until January 1 inclusive.
