Young traders from Crewe and Nantwich will be attending the region’s first Youth Market at Minshulls Garden Centre this Saturday.
Organisers will be joined by Youth Federation while Redshift Radio will broadcast live from the event between 9am and 4pm.
Big Society Works will also be there promoting the Legacy Pledge website which raises money for young sports athletes going to the Olympics in the Cheshire & Warrington area.
Event organiser Steve Minshull said: “With over one million NEETS (not in education, employment or training) in the UK today and the huge decline in markets up and down the country, I think this is a positive story for Crewe and Nantwich.”
Among the youth market traders are young mum Gill, who runs Mogz selling handmade jewellery and gifts.
Gill (pictured), who sells out of the Wyche Gallery on Welsh Row, Nantwich, said: “I have been making jewellery for myself and for friends for several years.
“I returned to work from maternity leave and realised most of my wages were spent on childcare and travel to work.
“This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I was able to leave my job and look after my little girl full time without affecting our family finances. I set up Mogz last year and haven’t looked back!”
Child Safe Scents, run by Chris & Collete Gibbs, aged 26, sells Scentsy Warmers and wax bars, Scentsy Buddies which are teddies with scent packs, Perfume sticks, Scented travel tins and more.
Chris said: “We came about selling these things after Collette got talking to an old friend from school who was also selling the products and after some discussion decided to sign up and join him and we have never looked back since!”
Rebekah Adshead, 18, runs Ramelia-Images, which sells pet portraits in graphite or coloured pencil, equine artwork, and customized items such as pencil cases, bags, shoes and bookmarks.
“When I was 14, I was asked if I would draw a friend’s horse, and I guess it started there really,” she said. “Very soon I had done drawings for most of the people on the yard!”
Jo Fellows’ “Girl with the Curl” will be at the market. The 24-year-old makes cushions, keyrings and lots of textile accessories and decorations.
White Cliff, run by Joel Cheung, 17, will be selling small accessories in outdoor and travel gear.
Alex Simpson, 24, who runs his own craft design company will be attending along with Colour & Glitz trader Chloe Jones, 18, who sells handmade designer jewellery, earrings, bracelets, necklaces and phone charms/ handbag charms.
