RBS team and their 'Jubilympic' creation at St Catherine's in Nantwich

Staff and residents at St Catherine’s care home in Nantwich have a new Jubilympics garden – thanks to a team of bankers.

The Barony Road home welcomed Royal Bank of Scotland’s corporate banking team who created the feature in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Olympic Games.

The four-man team donned gardening gloves to transform a tired area of the home’s extensive grounds, turning it into a “Jubilympic Garden”

It includes a new seating area, with a giant Union Jack made from flowers as its centre-piece.

St Catherine’s manager Carolyn Penfold said: “The work the RBS team has done for us is amazing and everyone at St Catherine’s is thrilled.

“What the team managed to achieve in such a short space of time wowed us all.

“Our residents and their families are already making the most of this beautiful new garden space and we can’t say thank you enough.”

Jonathan McKenna, senior relationship manager at RBS, who led the volunteer team, added: “Having worked with CIC for many years and seen lots of the fantastic work they do within the community, we were really keen to do our bit for the people they support.

“The Jubilympics garden patch was the perfect project for us to get involved in; it gave us the chance to work with residents and staff to create something memorable and lasting, which everybody in the home can really enjoy.

“We had a fantastic day and look forward to returning soon.”
