A new Nantwich Philosophy Club course is being launched in Nantwich next month.
Ben Cassidy, associate lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University in Crewe, will be running the “Introduction to Philosophy” class at The Gables, on Beam Street.
Ben said: “Our aim at The Nantwich Philosophy Club is to provide an opportunity for people to find out what philosophy is all about.
“There are questions that most of us will wonder about at some time in our lives – the meaning of life, about death, about knowledge, truth, beauty, sex, art, film, music, war, morality, politics, religion, science, language, love…
“The list is as endless as there are human activities and concerns, and these are the things that interest philosophers too.
“Many of the questions that we ask about life have been asked by others before, and we can learn a lot by looking at the history of these ideas, as well as trying to avoid making the same mistakes as others have made.”
The course starts on Tuesday July 17 and runs weekly for six weeks, from 7pm to 8.30pm.
Anyone interested in examining life’s big questions, how to understand arguments and how to think more clearly could find some of the answers on this course.
The course fee is £75, concessions available.
