Young Nantwich Town players have completed their own special double – raising money for charity and winning a soccer centre tournament.
The under 10s Dabbers team ran in the annual Nantwich Festive Fun Run to support Hope House Children’s Cancer Care Charity.
Then they took part in the Crewe Alex Soccer Centre Tournament the following day, and scooped the trophy.
At the fun run, players also met with Stoke City and England star Ryan Shawcross, who started the race.
They ran in their Nantwich Town kit and Santa hats, braving the cold and wet to sprint around the 2.5km course.
They were also featured on RedShift Radio who where broadcasting “live” at the event.
“We understand the team raised over £100 for the charity and we received heartfelt thanks from the charity for their efforts,” said a club spokesman.
“The team were very proud to give something back into the community and especially for such a worth while charity.
“There were lots of proud parents and a very proud team manager that day, so we congratulate the Dabbers on a wonderful effort.”
The team won the Crewe Alex Soccer Centre Tournament at the weekend and displayed their trophy at the club’s Mini Soccer Christmas Party at the Weaver Stadium.
