A triple amputee army veteran will be visiting a Nantwich company which helped him adapt to his injuries.
Andy Reid will call in on The Mountain Trike Company, based in Walgherton, along with local MP Edward Timpson.
The Mountain Trike (pictured) is an all-terrain wheelchair which has transformed Andy’s life, giving him freedom and independence.
Andy (pictured, right) lost both legs and his right arm in an explosion in 2009 while on patrol with 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment in Afghanistan.
His trike, made by the team in Walgherton, was funded by the Help for Heroes charity.
And their visit on Friday (September 6) comes just two days before the trike’s inventor and entrepreneur Tim Morgan appears on BBC2’s Dragon’s Den programme.
Tim, managing director of The Mountain Trike Company, said: “The plan is to show them around the offices and factory and explain the manufacturing and production process.
“We’ll then give Mr Timpson a demonstration of the Trike’s functions and capabilities and offer him the chance to ‘ride’ in the Trike and also talk to Andy about his ability to adapt to the Trike and find out about the fantastic work Help for Heroes does for our injured soldiers.
“Following the recent announcement from Bentley that they are producing their new SUV in Crewe we wanted to highlight to the local government another local manufacturing success story.
“We are a small British company who manufacture and sell the Trike direct to customers throughout the UK, Europe, the rest of the world and recently have started selling into the US.”
SETsquared Partnership, which helps seek funding for UK technology start-up companies, will be filming the visit.
Mountain Trike will be show-cased at the Accelerating Growth 10th Anniversary event on November 27 in London.
Mr Morgan and the Mountain Trike are being featured on BBC2’s Dragons’ Den, this Sunday September 8 at 8pm.
