Tickets are selling fast for next week’s Nantwich Words and Music Festival which features a string of big names.
Venues across the town are staging live performances by musicians and wordsmiths throughout the festival, October 7 to 13.
The event, first launched in 2008, is the brainchild of Cheshire-born musician and record producer Nigel Stonier, Cheshire Sinfonia conductor Clare “Fluff” Smith, and acclaimed singer/songwriter Thea Gilmore.
They wanted a festival of music, poetry, literature and theatre featuring performers and performances not normally accessible.
And this year, it looks set to be bigger and better than before with stage gigs, readings and shows in small, intimate town centre venues.
Among the names at this year’s festival are Janice Long, Barry Cryer, Paper Aeroplanes, The Magic Numbers, Thea Gilmore, John Brawmwell, Simon Armitage, and Maddy Prior.
Some shows are already sold out. There will also be a poetry competition, cabaret at The Vine, and Saturday on the Square.
Venues include The Vine, Crown Hotel, Players Theatre, and the Malbank Studio Theatre.
The festival, which launches on Monday October 7 at Enzo coffee shop on the High Street, is staffed and supported by a team of volunteers and attracts hundreds of visitors from across the UK.
Organisers were awarded a £500 grant from Nantwich Town Council and private sponsors to arrange the festival.
