A Nantwich man’s new novel set in the town during the Civil War is to launch at Nantwich Bookshop later this month.
David Wilson’s story, “The Winter Siege”, is set in Nantwich when Civil War raged through the country.
Every year, the town remembers its involvement in the war with the Holly Holy Day “Battle of Nantwich” celebration.
Nantwich Bookshop, on the town square, will launch the novel on Thursday October 24 at 7pm.
David will talk about the novel, give a short reading and we will be providing refreshments including some Ham and Veal pie (a dish from the book).
There will also be a member of the Sealed Knot Society in full regalia.
Below is an extract of the new book which is sure to be a hit among local residents.
“1643…As winter closes in around the town of Nantwich, the Civil War that rages across the country threatening to tear England apart is yet to reach the town’s gates. But while the residents wait, eyeing the outside world with unease, they face deadly threat from within; townspeople have started dying, murdered…”
Tickets for the book launch are £15 per person which includes a copy of the book and refreshments.
