Thousands of people visited Nantwich as the town marked the 53rd annual Battle of Nantwich ‘Holly Holy Day’ English Civil War re-enactment.

The event, staged in and around the town centre and on Mill Island, was organised by the Holly Holy Day Society.

A burst of 17th-century drama will help kick-start 2026 in Nantwich when January’s Dabbers Dash community run, walk and wheel gets underway with a thunderous musket volley tomorrow (Saturday 24th).

The Dash will be officially started by a musketeer from The Sealed Knot, as part of a special tie-in with the town’s annual Battle of Nantwich – Holly Holy Day English Civil War re-enactment.

Organisers of the annual Battle of Nantwich ‘Holly Holy Day’ English Civil War re-enactment are appealing for volunteers to join the team for the 2026 event.

Next year’s battle will take place on Saturday 24th January and will see Sealed Knot soldiers once again re-enact the 1644 battle in style.

Activities took place during the day at St Mary’s Acton, St Mary’s Nantwich, Nantwich Museum, Pillory Street pillory, and the town square.
