A councillor has backed residents in objecting to a plan to build 40 homes on greenfield site in Willaston, Nantwich.
The proposal has been submitted for a second time by Richard Lee Ltd to Cheshire East Council for houses on land off Eastern Road.
But it was rejected by councillors for a “significant detrimental impact” on the countryside.
The second submission has sparked a string of objections from local residents along Eastern Road and surrounding area.
Willaston and Rope Cllr Brian Silvester (pictured) said: “It was refused only recently for those very same reasons.
“Roads in Willaston are congested and dangerous now at peak times. Parking is already a nightmare for many Willaston residents.
“Some buses now have to divert from the centre of the village because the congestion is so bad they cannot get through with the bus.
“To have over 80 more cars a day added to the traffic movements can only lead to further highway congestion, more parking problems, add to the accident numbers and the pollution concerns.”
Residents also say the local Willaston Primary School is over subscribed and can’t take any more children.
“And there is already a flooding problem across the village, including Eastern Road, after heavy rain and this further development will add to the pressure on the capacity of the sewers,” added Cllr Silvester.
“Also this part of the village has no public transport whatsoever. In short the application is not sustainable.”
People have until December 4 to register their views on the proposals.
Cheshire East is set to decide on the application late in January 2014.
