A number of schools in and around Nantwich will be hit by the national teachers strike tomorrow (March 26).
The latest list issued by Cheshire East Council shows several schools will either be closed or partially closed because staff will be involved in strike action.
Those schools to fully close all day include Weaver Primary in Nantwich and Acton C of E Primary.
Schools which will be forced to partially close include Audlem St James’ CofE Primary School, Highfields Community Primary School, Malbank School and Sixth Form College, Millfields Primary School and Nursery, Wrenbury Primary School, Wybunbury Delves CofE Primary School, and Wyche Primary School.
Parents are urged to contact the school or visit the school’s website for more details on year groups which will be open.
Brine Leas Academy is also partially closed, with some year groups having to stay away.
Schools which will be open as normal for all pupils include Bickerton Holy Trinity CofE Primary School, Bridgemere CofE Primary School, Bunbury Aldersey CofE Primary School, Calveley Primary School, Pear Tree Primary School, Shavington High School, Shavington Primary School, Sound and District Primary School, St Anne’s Catholic Primary School, St Oswald’s Worleston CofE Primary School, The Berkeley Primary School in Wistaston, Willaston Primary School, and Wistaston Church Lane Primary School.
The National Union of Teachers have called the action is a row over pay, pensions and conditions.
They accuse Education Secretary Michael Gove of making changes to teachers’ pay, pensions and conditions of service which are making it harder for schools to recruit and retain good teachers.
They oppose the introduction of a tougher version of performance related pay and what the unions say is an attack on national pay structures.
