Staff at a Crewe & Nantwich radio station are backing St Luke’s Hospice Midnight Walk – with a non-stop 60 hour broadcast!
Redshift Radio’s online broadcast, from 10am today (June 27), marks the 10th anniversary of the Midnight Walk, which takes place on Saturday night (June 28).
Redshift volunteers decided they wanted to go one step further than simply providing entertainment at the start line and through the night.
So they came up with the non-stop for 60 hours idea.
They will present from 10am today (June 27) until 10pm on Sunday (June 29).
There will be more than 30 presenters pitching in to help raise money for St Luke’s Hospice.
Jane Thompson, from St Luke’s, said: “We are delighted to have RedShift supporting us and our walkers again.
“It was great to hear them broadcasting through the night last year to keep the ladies motivated and to hear they are raising money for us in a fun and very unique way this year is just wonderful.”
Charlotte Birch, 17, is the main organiser of the 60-hour broadcast.
She said: “I am really pleased so many of our RedShift team have given up their time to take up this fun challenge.
“I hope people get involved by being a guest or requesting a song for a small donation to St Luke’s.”
Liz Southall, founder of RedShift Radio, added: “The concept is simple.
“Pop in to our studios on Mirion Street in Crewe or visit our “RedShiftRadioStLukes” page on the fundraising site www.justgiving.com/RedShiftRadioStLukes to make a donation and request.”
RedShift has also launched a mobile app so you can listen wherever you are. It can be found at www.redshiftradio.co.uk/mobile
