Nantwich Town boss Phil Parkinson has completed the signing of centre half powerhouse Darren Thornton from Curzon Ashton.
Thornton’s impressive defensive displays last season helped Curzon Ashton gain promotion to the Conference North from Evo-Stik Premier Division.
And the Dabbers have landed his signature ahead of Curzon and other teams at a higher level.
Parkinson said: “Darren’s quality at this level is just what we have been looking for and we are delighted he has chosen to join us despite offers to remain at Curzon and interest from a host of other clubs.
“I am feeling really pleased with the overall quality of the squad we have been able to assemble at this stage of the close season.
“We can’t wait to start working with the lads once pre season starts in another few weeks.”
It was double delight for Parkinson and his backroom team as young player of the season Elliot Osbourne also committed his long-term future by signing for next season.
“Everyone saw the potential that Elliot has from when he joined last season,” added Paarkinson.
“We are looking forward to helping him develop his immense talent further over the season and I am sure he is going to make a big contribution and develop into a fantastic player.”
