Student designers See Work Up In Lights At Expert Logistics

Two young Nantwich and Crewe designers are going places after helping distribution firm Expert Logistics bring its core values to life.

Graphic Design students Megan Shepherd and Lauren Walker won a competition to show off their talents and work to a client brief.

The task was to produce a set of designs to reflect the firm’s key values of Caring, Fun, Driven, Bold and Smart.

They wanted it to be displayed in live environments across the company’s Crewe head office and network of 11 UK outbases.

And South Cheshire College students Lauren and Megan scooped the winner’s prize.

Former Malbank School pupil Lauren, 20, from Willaston, and Megan, former Shavington High student, received £250 each in cash, framed certificates and bottles of champagne as a reward for their efforts.

Their artwork was unveiled at a celebratory event attended by members of the Expert Logistics management team and college staff.

Lauren’s artwork was selected to reflect the ‘Caring’ and ‘Bold’ values while Megan produced eye-catching designs to show off the ‘Driven’, ‘Fun’ and ‘Smart’ values.

Lauren has her sights set on a place at Staffordshire University after completing a Foundation degree programme.

She said: “It’s a great feeling to win this competition and seeing my work up at the Expert Logistics headquarters makes the hard work worthwhile.

“It’s great to think that the designs will also be seen across the country and I hope that they create a lasting impression for years to come.”

Mike Smith, graphic design lecturer at South Cheshire College, said: “Students jumped at the opportunity to enter this competition.

“The project has enabled them to work on a live brief for a top national company and demonstrate their skills outside the College.”

Dave Ashwell, of Expert Logistics, said: “We are always looking to work with and develop local talent.

“The winning artwork is excellent and we are delighted with the work that Lauren and Megan have produced for us.

“These designs will be on display for a long time and we believe the artwork that has been produced will act as fundamental visual reminders of the values we want all of our team to uphold.”
