Church bosses in Nantwich have found the key to success – a new grand piano to entertain their visitors!
After years of fund-raising at lunchtime concerts and a large anonymous donation, St Mary’s Parish Church has been able to buy a new Schimmel piano.
Now music-lovers in Nantwich will benefit from the church’s amazing acoustic.
After a re-design of the church’s interior, a space has been created in the south aisle for the new piano which can be moved to the front of the nave when needed.
The instrument was paid for by a fund made up of a single anonymous donation and added to by collections from the series of lunchtime concerts held at the church in summer months.
Visitors can find out what the new acquisition sounds like at the first of this summer’s series of lunchtime concerts on Thursday May 5 by well-known Cheshire pianist John Gough.
Dr Marie McKavanagh (pictured, above) will feature later in the series along with a fellow pianist Anne Shingler.
Leaflets giving details of the all the concerts is available from the back of church, Nantwich Visitor Centre and the church web page
