win at Corby - Phil Parkinson, Nantwich Town manager, against Stourbridge

Nantwich Town boss Phil Parkinson was pleased with his side’s comfortable 2-0 win away at Corby Town as Dabbers remain unbeaten on the road.

A goal in either half from Osebi Abadaki and Dave Walker ensured victory for Nantwich.

They have now gone eight without loss on the road and Parkinson was happy with his side’s performance.

He said: “I’m very happy because we have come away from home and are undefeated still in the league.

“It’s something we are trying to take a little bit of pride in, and to do that at this point in the season is great for us.

“Corby have a new management team so we knew they would be fighting for their lives with regards to their league position, because I am sure the manager would be assessing them as I did when I first came in.

“I thought it really showed the depth of our squad.

“We had three key players missing, and the lads who came in were superb.

“Wayne Riley and Tim Sanders in there and Sam Crook, who we’ve had come in this week really helped us out.

“Dave Walker got his goal which was good to see in terms of a real poacher’s goal.

“It fell to him and he buried it. Overall, I thought we did really well under very difficult conditions.

“I am disappointed it wasn’t more than two, I did say that to the lads in a game like this.

“I thought we played a little bit better first half, the way we passed the ball.

“Second half it was a little bit scrappy, but we’ve kept a clean sheet.

“In general, I thought this could have been a game we really opened up a team, but there are no easy games in the NPL.

“The two new managers that have come in for Corby will turn this place around, I think they will do a real good job here.”

Nantwich’s first goal came in the ninth minute from Abadaki as the winger scored his third of the season with a fine finish from the edge of the box.

Parkinson was full of praise for him after the game.

He said: “Whenever he wants he can tear a full back to pieces, he’s got everything.

“It’s just a mental thing with him with regards to whether he can do it continuously, it maybe a fitness thing as he doesn’t play all the time.

“But we want to progress Ossie. He’s been working on his game, you can see the end product with regards to the goal he scored but there are things he can work on.

“We are trying to work with him to improve him.

“If he can keep doing what he’s doing and stay injury free, he’s got a real bright future here.”

Nantwich are now in 11th place in Evo-Stik Premier League with 22 points, with games in hand on most teams around them.
