More than 200 girls from Weaver Division (Crewe and Nantwich) Rainbows, Brownies and Girlguiding groups united for a Science Day.
Interactive workshops were set up across South Cheshire College, where girls visited each pod in their individual groups.
A Planetarium dome was inflated and set up in the sports arena, donated by Manchester Metropolitan University with funding from Crewe’s Rotary Club.
The Planetarium allowed groups to crawl into the inflatable dome to experience the show.
It focused on a series of science-related topics including Tim Peake’s mission to the International Space Station, the stars of tonight’s sky and planets in our solar system and exploring the Milky Way Galaxy.
North West Mad Science set up a number of pods which allowed girls to participate in colourful and slimy putty experiments as well as hair-rising pods with spectacular demonstrations aimed at making science fun.
South Cheshire College’s science department set up a fictional crime scene where girls had a chance to use fingerprint kits and a mirror drawing challenge as part of solving the crime scene.
The college’s display included ‘Women Of Science’, showcasing women from across the years who have contributed to Scientific progress.
Alison Morris and Cathy Consterdine, Weaver Division Commissioners for Girlguiding, said: “Our Division Science Day has been fantastic.
“We love seeing the girls with happy faces and today has been full of that.
“The day was full of fun and they are more likely to embrace learning when they’re happy.”
