Christmas tree decorations and lights - stage-area-and-fireworks-after-nantwich-christmas-lights-switch-on

Yobs who vandalised Nantwich town centre’s Christmas tree, lights and decorations, have not been traced.

The vandals targeted the lower branches of the tree, ripping off baubles, damaging the base and stealing other electrical decorations.

As a result, the lights had to be switched off and disconnected to make them safe.

Despite police and council staff examining CCTV images, those responsible have not been traced.

Nantwich Town Council clerk Ian Hope told councillors that police have not been able to take the matter further.

The tree and its 2,000 lights were unveiled to thousands of families who packed into the town square on November 19.

The big switch-on was performed by Nantwich’s Olympic heroes Bryony Page and Andrew Small, along with competition winner eight-year-old Lillyanna.
