A couple’s Nantwich home was ransacked by burglars who stole jewellery and their car while they had popped out to some shopping.
The shocked couple, in their 60s, who wish to remain anonymous, returned to their Audlem Road home in Nantwich to discover the break-in.
They had popped out at around 11.30am on Saturday (June 3) and returned just after 2pm.
Police believe a gang of thieves smashed a window at the back of the property to gain entry.
They then searched the house, stealing jewellery and the keys to a silver Audi Q3 which they drove off in.
The couple’s daughter, of nearby Wistaston, said: “The police are obviously investigating this but I seem to remember there have been other break ins in that area.
“We just want people to be aware and vigilant.
“Police think it was probably more than one offender, possibly two or three as one was probably driving to get them there.
“They’re a bit shaken but ok.
“It is awful to know someone has been in your home, sadly the jewellery is very sentimental which is the most upsetting part.”
PCSO Stu Mortimer, of Crewe Local Policing Unit, has urged anyone with information to get in touch and has written to residents in the surrounding area.
He said: “If you have seen any suspicious vehicles or persons in your area, or have any other information, please contact us on Cheshire Police 101.
“Your call will be dealt with in complete confidence and information you supply may help us to reduce burglaries and other offences in your area.”
Residents can also report information to Nantwich Police Station on Beam Street between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
My house was robbed on Thursday in similar circumstances. I nipped out for milk and came home less than half an hour later and all my mothers jewellery was stolen and the house was ransacked.
