New categories in this year’s Food Awards linked to the Nantwich Food Festival will help celebrate even more producers, organisers say.
The awards give customers a chance to vote for their favourite local eateries, retailers and producers that champion food offered in Nantwich and surrounding Cheshire area.
The gala evening that recognises the excellence of local food and drink businesses is now in its seventh year.
Food Festival Director John Coulter believes the awards celebrate a “vital” part of the town’s economy.
He said: “Nantwich is a real gem for food and drink, and the awards recognise the dedication of many people.
“These excellent businesses are vital for the local economy.
“This year we have amended the categories, but from the incredible feedback we received it was obvious that people enjoyed much of existing formula as well.
“Now it’s over to the public to pick their favourites.”
New categories are: Best Newcomer (within the last 24 months), Best Local Producer (within 20 miles), plus an Excellence in Customer Care award.
Old favourites still up for grabs are: Best Restaurant (including hotel restaurant), Best Pub with Food, Best Cafe or Coffee Shop, and Beer Champion.
Some of the nominees will have stalls at this year’s Food Festival that takes place in September, while some will organise events on their premises during the weekend.
Voting is open for the awards, and the online poll closes on September 9.
Anyone who votes for the winner in any of the categories will be entered into a draw to win £40 to spend in that establishment.
The awards night is scheduled to take place at Nantwich Civic Hall on Friday October 27.
