Crewe Rail Ale Festival (1)

Beer fans tucked in to the 6th ‘Crewe Rail Ale Festival’ at Crewe Heritage Centre, writes Jonathan White.

There was a choice of more than 60 beers and ciders/perries in different styles and strengths, plus free soft drinks for children and designated drivers.

Live music was provided on Friday night from acoustic duo The Crutwells

There was also a visit from Matthew Jodrell and his ‘Britannia’ steam engine.

A live brewery demonstration from Sandstone brewery took place on Saturday.

Connoisseurs rated the beers and ciders via the ‘Untappd’ app on their smartphones.

Refreshments were available and there was indoor and outdoor seating.

Crewe Heritage Centre exhibits were open to visitors including miniature-gauge railway rides.

The festival charity this year was St John Ambulance, the nation’s leading first aid charity.

The sponsors were Electrical & Plumbing Solutions (Crewe and Nantwich), Mat White Financial Services, EMaC, The Bhurtpore Inn (Aston),The Lodge (Alsager), Sandstone Brewery, The White Bear (Middlewich), The Hop Pole (Crewe), Ebenezer’s (Nantwich) and The Raven Inn (Crewe).

The event was organised by CAMRA South Cheshire Branch.
