Leighton Hospital bosses fail in £1.4 million A&E funds bid

By Stephen Topping Leighton Hospital bosses have been unsuccessful in a bid for £1.4 million to help A&E run smoothly this winter.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wanted to tap into a £145 million pot of money announced by the Government in September to support A&E departments over the winter months.

Leighton pancreatic cancer group’s zip wire fundraiser

Members of Leighton Pancreatic Cancer Support group flew through the air at 100mph on the World’s Fastest Zip Line to take on the disease.

The team of patients, survivors, carers and specialist nurses, timed their challenge to coincide with World Pancreatic Cancer Day and raised over £2,500 for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

A children’s hospice charity is calling on all Santas to take a break from toy-making and tackle the Nantwich Santa Dash.

The annual run will take place on Sunday December 16 and will see scores of Santas tackling either a 2.5km or a 5km route.
